         The Wilshire Motel is committed to guaranteeing a clean and safe environment for our guests and staff. We have been certified by the California Hotel and Lodging Association (CHLA) as a clean + safe establishment due to our health compliant re-opening strategy.

         The Wilshire Motel has been closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) statements regarding COVID-19. Our management team and on-site staff are working daily to ensure Wilshire Motel meets the latest guidance on cleaning and hygiene. Wilshire Motel’s health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including but not limited to COVID-19, and include everything from physical distancing guidelines and proper hand-washing instructions to strict procedures for cleaning guest rooms and common areas.

 

The specific steps Wilshire Motel is taking include:

Health, Safety, and Knowledge of our Staff. The staff are a critical piece of Wilshire Motel and are essential to an effective cleaning program.

 

         Here are some ways we’re supporting them:

 

  •  Hand-washing Hygiene: To combat the spread of viruses, proper and frequent hand-washing is crucial. Wilshire Motel reminds staff daily that hand-washing is a critical part of maintaining property cleanliness; this simple act keeps our guests and staff safer.

  • Temperature and Wellness Checks: Each employee undergoes a screening upon arriving for their shift.  Wilshire Motel checks our employees for symptoms that could possibly be related to COVID-19.    

 

  • Ongoing Training: At this time, all Wilshire Motel staff have completed enhanced training on housekeeping procedures, personal hygiene, and COVID-19 awareness. Wilshire Motel training materials are continually updated to reflect CDC and WHO guidelines.

 

  • Real Time Information: Wilshire Motel is committed to providing our staff with the knowledge and resources to maintain the safety and cleanliness of our property. As such, we have launched an internal communications system with the latest news and information our staff can use to prepare for and respond to COVID-19 related situations.

 

  • 24/7 Standby: The Wilshire Motel management team is on standby 24/7 to support and guide our staff as well as coordinate with local and regional authorities.

 

Cleanliness Protocols: Wilshire Motel works with our partners and suppliers to ensure the procurement and use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as virus-killing products approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

 

         Wilshire Motel cleaning protocols include virus-killing measures and vary based on locations such as:

 

  • Guest Rooms: Wilshire Motel breaks guest rooms into smaller sections and uses a three step process, approved by the CDC, to ensure cleanliness. The rooms are first cleaned with a general cleaning solution mixed with a mild disinfectant, then thoroughly disinfected with a high-concentrate solution designed for COVID-19 and other viruses, lastly the room is methodically exposed to concentrated UV-C light. Upon completion, our staff utilizes an extensive guest room checklist to verify that all high and low touch objects and areas have undergone each stage of cleaning. Finally, all guest rooms are left untouched for a 24-hour period after cleaning has been completed and before the room is occupied by a new guest.

 

  • Common Areas: Wilshire Motel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting common areas and items, such as the parking lot, Front Desk, exterior door handles, guest room keys, and more.

 

  • Back of House: In the spaces where our staff work “behind the scenes,” Wilshire Motel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting high touch-areas and objects such as staff rest areas, bathrooms, laundry rooms, offices, lockers, housekeeping supplies, maintenance tools, and more.

 

         Wilshire Motel has developed high standards of cleanliness and health, designed to keep our property, our guests, and our staff safe and healthy. We are vigilant in maintaining these standards and hold our staff to them every day.

 

         In the event persons staying or working with Wilshire Motel are exposed to COVID-19, we are prepared to immediately begin contact tracing the relevant parties and will communicate with local health officials to provide all relevant information and receive guidance regarding our guests and staff. Additionally, after exposure to COVID-19, Wilshire Motel is prepared to seal and contain the exposed area, and will implement an immediate property-wide deep cleaning and disinfection procedure intended on thoroughly disinfecting the exposed area, common areas, and back of house over a number of days.

           

         Wilshire Motel is committed to expanding our understanding of the nature and effects of COVID-19 as well as maintaining and implementing current recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and other relevant public health authorities. We remain prepared to initiate further protective measures as such measures are made known to us. The Wilshire Motel management team is dedicated to protecting our guests, staff, and the greater public by doing our part in facilitating the prevention of the transmission of COVID-19.
